Torben Dam

Torben Dam serves as Associate Professor of Landscape Architecture within the Department of Geosciences and Natural Resource Management at the University of Copenhagen's Faculty of Science. His academic work integrates design theory, natural sciences, technology, and cultural traditions to advance landscape architectural practice. With over 100 supervised theses since 1994, he bridges academia and professional practice through initiatives like the annual "The city floor" conference.

Research focuses on urban nature dynamics, sustainable paving systems, soil substrates, climate adaptation strategies, and stormwater management. His investigations examine how landscape architecture quality addresses societal challenges, particularly in biodiversity enhancement and green transition processes. Recent projects analyze circular material flows in Copenhagen streets and historical construction standards in Danish landscape architecture.

Professional engagement includes membership in the Danish Association of Landscape Architects' Think Tank and participation in architectural competitions.
