Tor Haakon Bakken

Tor Haakon Bakken is a Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). He leads the SusHydro initiative, NTNU's flagship project for sustainable hydropower development, which integrates hydrology, biology, and energy system modeling across five faculties.

His research examines reservoir optimization for flood control, environmental impacts of hydropower, and climate adaptation strategies. He teaches courses on hydropower environmental effects and water resource management.

Bakken coordinates multinational projects including the EU Horizon Grant OppAttune and has contributed to over 50 publications on water resource engineering and renewable energy policy.
