Tony Scarlatos is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science at Stony Brook University, affiliated with the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences. He directs the Multimedia Lab and focuses on interdisciplinary research at the intersection of digital media, human-computer interaction, and educational technology.
- Education: MA in Computer Science from Adelphi University (1995), BFA in Computer Arts from Pratt Institute (1982)
His research integrates visual arts, education, and computer science, supported by grants from the Long Island Lighting Company R&D Initiative, New York State Department of Education, Department of Education TIIAP grant, and National Science Foundation CRCD grant (2002-2006). Recent projects include developing the interdisciplinary curriculum The Future of History (2025-2027) through a Stony Brook Faculty Fellowship.
Teaching areas include core computer science courses like CSE 101, CSE/ISE 300-334, and honors seminar HON 301. He received four major teaching awards between 2018-2024.
