Tony Chao

Tony Chao, PT, DPT, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences (PTRS) at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), affiliated with the School of Health Professions (SHP). His work focuses on traumatic injury research and clinical rehabilitation science.

• Education: Master of Science in Kinesiology, Clinical Exercise Physiology (Texas A&M); Doctorate in Biomedical Science, Rehabilitation Science (UTMB)

Dr. Chao’s research interests include the pathophysiology of burn injury and therapeutic interventions involving drug and rehabilitative exercise effects on skeletal muscle metabolism. He is a member of the American Physiological Society and collaborates with the Shriners Hospital for Children in Galveston.
