Professor Tony Bjourson holds a Professor of Genomics position at the School of Biomedical Sciences, Faculty Of Life & Health Sciences, University of Ulster. He established the Northern Ireland Centre for Stratified Medicine and co-founded Clinical Translation Research & Innovation Centre (C-TRIC), securing over £30M in research funding.
His educational background includes an
- MSc in Molecular Biosciences (University of Ulster, 2002)
- PhD in Molecular Signalling (Queen’s University Belfast, 1996)
Research interests focus on stratified and personalised medicine for multi-morbid inflammatory disorders, with key contributions in
- genomic biomarkers for RA and MS
- epigenetics of depression
- NLRP3 inflammasome targeting
- ALS molecular stratification
