Toni Wright

Toni Wright is a Reader (equivalent to Associate Professor) in the School of Nursing, Midwifery, Allied and Public Health at Canterbury Christ Church University within the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Social Care. She serves as Faculty Director of Post Graduate Studies and leads level 7 research modules including the Dissertation module.

Her academic qualifications include:

• PhD in Women’s Studies from the University of Kent
• MA in Methods of Social Research from the University of Kent
• MA in Women’s Studies from the University of Kent
• BA in Women’s Studies from Lancaster University
• International studies at Nijmegen University (Netherlands) and University of California, Santa Cruz (USA)

Dr. Wright's research integrates public health, women's studies, and social research with clinical nursing practice, focusing on vulnerable populations including older adults, asylum seekers, refugees, and migrants. Her work examines social determinants of health through interdisciplinary lenses.

As a Research Supervisor, she mentors postgraduate students in Advanced Clinical Practice and Healthcare Practice programs. Her professional background includes a Department of Health funded public health initiative for older people and a decade-long role with a migrant support charity, demonstrating strong community engagement in health equity initiatives.
