Toni Owens is a Graduate Student Affiliate and adjunct instructor at West Virginia University, pursuing a Ph.D. in Human & Community Development. She teaches at the collegiate level since 2020 and holds a certificate in University Teaching (2021). Her work integrates social work, higher education, and community development, with a focus on promoting social justice, equity, and mental wellness. Owens is actively involved in organizations such as the Kansas City Association of Black Social Workers, NAACP, ACLU, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Research interests include multicultural student affairs, DEI strategies, and systemic barriers impacting marginalized communities. She advocates for inclusive policies and equitable access in education and social services. Owens plans to transition to a full-time career merging her expertise in social work and community development post-graduation.
