Professor Toni Martinez Sykora is a faculty member at the University of Southampton, specializing in Optimisation and Combinatorial Optimisation with a focus on cutting and packing problems, transportation routing, and revenue management. He is affiliated with the Centre for Operational Research, Management Science and Information Systems (CORMSIS), Southampton Marine and Maritime Institute, and Supply Chain Excellence Centre. His research has been published in top-tier journals such as Transportation Science and Operations Research.
He leads and collaborates on projects including the Solent Future Transport Zone and FLIPGIG, both addressing sustainable logistics solutions. His work integrates unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) into healthcare and transportation systems, emphasizing environmental and operational efficiency. He received the First place in the 2021 International Timetabling Competition (ITC) for Sports Timetabling.
Professor Sykora supervises multiple PhD students and has secured grants from the EPSRC for projects like Currie EPSRC PamTran and Improving Community Health Care Logistics. His research bridges theoretical operational research with practical applications in supply chain, healthcare, and multi-modal transport systems.
