معرفی
Tone Tønjum is a Professor at the Department of Microbiology, University of Oslo. Her research spans Mycobacterium tuberculosis pathogenesis, antimicrobial resistance, and DNA repair mechanisms in bacterial pathogens.
- Member of Det Norske Videnskaps-Akademi (The Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters)
- European Academy of Microbiology
Key research areas include: proteomics of drug-resistant tuberculosis, drug development for mycobacterial infections, and DNA metabolism in pathogenic bacteria. Collaborations extend to the Center for Healthy Aging (CEHA), Copenhagen, and the Institute for Molecular Infection Biology (IMIB), Würzburg.
Recent work explores bioisosteric drug modifications to reduce linezolid toxicity, novel antitubercular hybrids (e.g., spirooxindolopyrrolidine-chromanone), and epiphytic marine biomass as antimicrobial resources. Publications highlight interdisciplinary approaches combining organic synthesis, computational modeling, and clinical microbiology.
- Scientific awards include membership in the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters and the European Academy of Microbiology.
Her affiliations with research groups like Genome Dynamics and SERTA: Healthy Brain Ageing Centre reflect cross-disciplinary interests, including neurodegenerative disease mechanisms. Contact: tone.tonjum@medisin.uio.no, +47 90152936.
