Tomoya Kaihatsu is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Human Sciences, Waseda University, a position he has held since April 2025. Previously, he served as a Research Associate at the same institution from April 2024 to March 2025.

Recent publications examine disaster prevention awareness among junior high students, teacher expertise through classroom management perspectives, and the relationship between developmental stages and classroom management in elementary schools.

He is currently leading a research project funded by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science titled "Clarifying classroom management images through visual metaphors and examining educational effects" (2024.07-2026.03), which investigates how visual metaphors can enhance understanding of classroom management concepts. Dr. Kaihatsu also has teaching experience at Saitama Nursing College since April 2023, where he teaches pedagogy.
