Tomer Koren is an Associate Professor at the Blavatnik School of Computer Science, Tel Aviv University, and a Senior Research Scientist at Google Research, Tel Aviv. His research focuses on machine learning and optimization, particularly in stochastic optimization, online learning, and reinforcement learning.
Recent work includes advancements in learning rate annealing, bandit optimization, continual learning, and private online learning, with publications at top venues such as ICML, NeurIPS, and COLT. Key subfields span gradient methods, robust optimization, and privacy-preserving algorithms.
Scientific achievements include the Outstanding Paper Award at ALT 2025 and Spotlight presentations at ICML 2025 and 2024. He received his PhD from the Technion—Israel Institute of Technology, advised by Prof. Elad Hazan.
Collaborations include work with researchers at Google and Tel Aviv University, with a focus on theoretical foundations and practical algorithm design. His current affiliations and research integrate both academia and industrial innovation.
