Tomasz Wiśniewski

Prof. Tomasz Wiśniewski holds the position of Professor at the University of Gdańsk, specifically within the Faculty of Philology and the Department of Performing Arts Research. He has served as the Head of the Department of Performing Arts Research since 2019 and previously as Deputy Director for Research at the Institute of English and American Studies (2016–2019). His work bridges academic research with artistic practice, focusing on theatre, literature, and cultural studies.

Research Interests:
Prof. Wiśniewski specializes in theatre studies, literary analysis, and interdisciplinary research. He has organized the Between.Pomiędzy festival since 2010, emphasizing transnational collaboration and the intersection of art and science. His work with the Beckett Research Group explores Samuel Beckett’s influence on contemporary theatre and literature.

He authored Complicite, Theatre and Aesthetics (2016) and edited volumes like Historyja o Chwalebnym Zmartwychwstaniu Pańskim. He serves as substantive editor of Tekstualia, collaborates with global platforms like TheTheatreTimes, and chairs the Polish Association for the Study of English (PASE). Current projects include the Geography of Imagination: Irish Drama and Theatre under Gdańsk’s Humanities Support Program.
