Tomasz Sowiński

Tomasz Sowiński is a jazz drummer, composer, and arranger at the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk, where he has taught jazz percussion and instrumental ensembles since 2005. He earned a Master of Arts in percussion (1995) and completed pedagogical preparation in 2001. In 2016, he obtained a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in instrumental studies with a focus on drumming.

• Research Interests: Jazz improvisation, percussion techniques, stage music collaboration, and contemporary jazz composition.
• Education: Graduated from Primary State Music School and Karol Szymanowski State Music High School in Rzeszów, followed by advanced studies in Gdańsk.
• Artistic Achievements: Performed on 50+ albums, including two solo projects: Illustration (nominated for Jazz Album of the Year) and Synergy (winner of 'Jazz Album of the Year' by Rzeczpospolita and Audio magazine).

Teaching and Collaborations: Teaches jazz percussion and ensemble performance at the Academy. Collaborated with renowned musicians such as Maciej Sikała, Leszek Możdżer, and Jan Ptaszyn Wróblewski. Authored articles for the specialist percussion magazine Drummer.
