Previously, he served as an Assistant Professor at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń (2007-2008). He holds a Master's degree (1996-2001) and completed doctoral studies (2002-2006) in Philosophy at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, where his doctoral supervisor was Prof. Dr. Hab. U. Żegleń.
His primary research interests span ontology (focusing on Roman Ingarden, Benedict Spinoza, Thomas Aquinas, and Immanuel Kant), philosophical logic, philosophy of mind, bioethics, sexual ethics, biblical studies, and Quranic studies. His work often intersects metaphysics with contemporary philosophical debates, particularly in personal identity, time, material constitution, and religious philosophy. He has demonstrated consistent scholarly productivity with publications in both Polish and international journals, including The Journal of Philosophical Logic, Philosophia, and Roczniki Filozoficzne.
His recent publications reveal a strong focus on ontology of time, philosophy of religion, and personal identity, with increasing engagement with contemporary phenomenological approaches. He has published on topics ranging from Leibniz's monadology to Quranic studies, demonstrating both historical depth and contemporary relevance in his research. His work often bridges analytic and continental philosophical traditions, particularly in his engagement with Ingarden's phenomenology.
Dr. Kąkol has been actively involved in academic service, serving as a reviewer for several philosophical journals including "Filozofia Nauki," "Roczniki Filozoficzne," "Filo-Sofija," "Studia Philosophica Wratislaviensia," and "Edukacja Filozoficzna." He has also organized significant academic events, most notably the IV Leibniz Symposium in 2018 on "Leibniz's Logic: Its Philosophical Assumptions and Contemporary Reception."
He has supervised 11 bachelor's degree students and has received research grants from both Nicolaus Copernicus University (2004) and University of Gdańsk (2011). His teaching has been recognized by students, who have repeatedly voted for his courses including "Personal Identity," "Philosophical Arguments: Foundations of Formalization," "Leibniz's Polemic with Spinoza," and "Sexual Ethics."
