Toma Toncian

PD Dr. Toma Toncian is an Associate Professor and Head of the High Intensity Beamline for Extreme Fields (HIBEF) at the Helmholtz Center Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR). His research focuses on laser-plasma interactions, relativistic physics, and quantum electrodynamics in extreme conditions. He leads a team investigating dynamic warm dense matter, high-pressure astrophysical phenomena, and magnetic behaviors in condensed materials.

As a laser and plasma scientist, his work bridges fundamental physics with applied research in materials science and astrophysics. The HIBEF facility under his leadership is a key resource for studying extreme states of matter using high-intensity laser systems.
