Tom Turmezei is a Consultant Musculoskeletal Radiologist at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of East Anglia (UEA), and a Visiting Researcher at the University of Cambridge. He was awarded the 2020 Royal College of Radiologists Roentgen Professorship and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR). His research focuses on 3D imaging analysis of osteoarthritis using CT and MRI data, with a particular emphasis on weight-bearing CT technology for lower limb joints.
His recent work involves developing quantitative 3D imaging parameters to improve hip osteoarthritis diagnosis and outcomes, creating CT grading systems, and advancing low-dose weight-bearing CT as a potential gold standard over traditional radiography. His clinical practice integrates CT for bone tumors, fractures, and joint prostheses, while his research collaborates globally on 3D surface and shape-based analysis techniques.
Featured Research:
- 3D CT analysis of knee joint space width
- Prediction of hip osteoarthritis progression
- 3D surface modeling for structural joint disease
- CT grading systems for hip osteoarthritis
- Low-dose weight-bearing CT applications
Scientific Awards:
