Tom Potoms is an Associate Professor (Economics) at the Department of Economics, University of Sussex Business School. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Université Libre de Bruxelles (2014–2019), an MA in Quantitative Economics from the same institution (2013–2014), and prior degrees from KU Leuven (B.Sc. Economics, 2008–2011; M.Sc. Economics, 2011–2012). His research focuses on family economics, applied microeconomics, and economic theory, with a particular emphasis on household decision-making, consumption patterns, and public policy impacts. He is also a research associate at the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS) in London.
