His 2021 publications include analyses of archetypal narratives, Australian architectural aesthetics, and insect soundscapes' psychological effects.
Recent works address interdisciplinary connections between literature and design, such as numerical patterns across disciplines and material metaphors in Sebald's writing. He received the Marten Bequest Travelling Scholarship (2014) for creative pursuits.

Lee's scholarship often juxtaposes urban infrastructure (e.g., Kiama's drystone walls, Sydney's Henry Deane Plaza) with broader cultural and technological shifts, examining how design mediates human-environment relationships through projects like fake tree radio towers and reclaimed quarries.
