Tom Golecki

Tom Golecki is a Teaching Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, affiliated with the Mechanical Science & Engineering Department within The Grainger College of Engineering. He holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from UIUC (2023), and dual B.S./M.S. degrees in Civil & Architectural Engineering from Drexel University (2008). His professional registrations include PE (California) and SE (Illinois).

Research focuses on structural engineering with emphasis on bridge behavior analysis, composite action evaluation, stochastic load modeling, and structural optimization. He has contributed to studies on load testing methodologies, topology optimization under stochastic traffic, and vision-based infrastructure monitoring. Recent work includes advancements in probabilistic engineering mechanics and bridge system reliability.

Teaching responsibilities span dynamics, mechanics, and design courses such as ME 270, TAM 212, and TAM 251. His research integrates mechanical and civil engineering principles to address challenges in infrastructure resilience and performance prediction.
