Todor Popnedelev

Todor Popnedelev serves as the Dean of the Faculty of History at Sofia University "St. Clement of Ohrid". He holds the academic rank of Associate Professor at one of Bulgaria's most prestigious academic institutions.

The Faculty of History has a rich tradition dating back to Sofia University's establishment in 1888, when historical readings first began. After 1904, a formal degree program in History was offered at the Faculty of History and Philology. Until the mid-20th century, Sofia University remained the only center for historical research and education in Bulgaria. The Faculty became an independent entity in 1972, separating from the former joint Faculty of Philosophy and History structure that had been established in 1951.

The Faculty comprises seven departments: History of Bulgaria; History of Byzantium and the Balkans; Ancient History, Thracian Studies and Medieval History; Early Modern and Modern History; Archeology; Ethnology; Archives and Applied Historical Studies. It currently serves approximately 1700 students in Bachelor's and Master's programs, with studies available in both full-time and part-time formats, along with over 70 doctoral students and numerous international students.

The Faculty offers five Bachelor's degree programs: History (available in both full-time and part-time formats); Archeology, Ethnology, History and Geography, and Archives and Document Studies (available in full-time format only).
