Todd Oliynyk is a Professor in the School of Mathematics at Monash University, with a distinguished career in mathematical physics and partial differential equations. His research primarily focuses on the mathematical foundations of general relativity, geometric PDEs, and their applications to cosmological models.
Professor Oliynyk's research interests span several interconnected areas of mathematical physics, with particular emphasis on singular limits of symmetric hyperbolic systems, geometric PDEs, and their applications to general relativity. His work on the Newtonian limit and post-Newtonian expansions provides rigorous mathematical foundations for connecting Einstein's theory with classical mechanics. He has made significant contributions to understanding Einstein-Yang-Mills systems, gravitating perfect fluids, and elastic bodies within relativistic frameworks, alongside research on Ricci flow and renormalization group flow in geometric analysis.

Professor Oliynyk has secured significant research funding through multiple ARC Discovery Projects, including the current project "Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations of Wave Type: Singular Dynamics and Asymptotic Data" (2024-2027) where he serves as Chief Investigator.
