Professor Todd Lane serves as Professor and Head of the School of Geography, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Melbourne, where he has been employed since 2005 following his tenure at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (USA).
Education:

- PhD in Applied Mathematics, Monash University (2000)
Internationally recognized for expertise in atmospheric processes, Professor Lane specializes in tropical thunderstorms, atmospheric waves, and turbulence. His research integrates mesoscale meteorology and high-resolution modeling to investigate weather-climate interactions and extreme events including fire weather and extreme rainfall, utilizing advanced cloud and weather prediction systems.

His leadership roles include Presidency of the Australian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society (2014-2015), chairmanship of the American Meteorological Society’s Committee on Mesoscale Processes (2012-2015), and editorship of Monthly Weather Review (2016-2018).
