Todd B Harshbarger is an Assistant Professor in Radiology at Duke University and serves as Head of MR Operations at the Center for Brain Imaging and Analysis. He holds additional roles as Visiting Lecturer in Psychology & Neuroscience and Medical Center Instructor in the Center for Brain Imaging and Analysis.
He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Alabama, Birmingham in 2002. His research focuses on advancing MRI technology and brain imaging analysis, with a particular emphasis on functional connectivity, cognitive neuroscience, and translational applications in clinical radiology. His work spans diverse areas including post-surgical cognitive outcomes, neuroplasticity in transplantation, and urological symptom evaluation.
Harshbarger has secured significant grants, including funding from the National Institutes of Health for high-performance MRI and computational infrastructure, as well as contracts from the VA for MRI services and data analysis. His publications highlight innovative applications of neuroimaging in understanding brain changes post-cardiac surgery, effects of lifelong musicianship on cognition, and longitudinal studies of lower urinary tract dysfunction.
He leads the Center for Brain Imaging and Analysis, which integrates advanced imaging technologies with collaborative research. His work bridges radiology and clinical neuroscience, emphasizing both technological innovation and patient-oriented outcomes.
