Toby Fattore is an Associate Professor in Sociology at Macquarie University, specializing in childhood studies and qualitative research methodologies. As coordinating lead researcher for the multinational study 'Children's Understandings of Well-being', he investigates how children experience well-being across diverse cultural contexts.
Research focuses on:
- Participatory approaches to social research with children
- Re-conceptualizing services from youth perspectives
- Social justice dimensions of child wellbeing
- Negative tie formation in social networks
Fattore serves as Co-Editor-in-Chief of Child Indicators Research and board member of the International Society for Child Indicators. His current projects include 'Protecting Children at Australian Universities' (2024-2025) examining safeguarding policies for minors on campus.
Teaching includes Human Services in the 21st Century and Qualitative Methods for Policy, emphasizing empirical links between sociological theory and child-centered research.
