Tobias Skiveren serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Nordic Studies and Linguistics within the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Copenhagen. His research bridges literary scholarship with environmental concerns, focusing on ecocritical approaches to Scandinavian literature and culture.
Skiveren's research interests span environmental humanities, ecocriticism, new materialism, and postcritique theory. His work examines how literature engages with ecological crises, colonial histories, and pedagogical responses to climate change. He has particular expertise in Danish literary history and contemporary environmental thought.
His publication record demonstrates consistent engagement with major theoretical debates in environmental humanities. Recent work shows increasing focus on Indigenous ecologies, solarpunk pedagogy, and the intersections of medical humanities with environmental concerns. The publications reveal a trajectory from theoretical explorations of new materialism toward more applied research on environmental education and colonial ecologies.
