Tobias Lundgren is an Adjunct Lecturer at the Department of Clinical Neuroscience, Karolinska Institutet (2018–2026). Holding a Docent title since 2019, he leads the Psychotherapy Research group focused on improving mental health care through scientific approaches. The group develops psychotherapy programs implemented digitally and in-person, collaborating nationally and internationally.

His research spans psychological flexibility, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), with significant work on ADHD, PTSD, autism, and post-COVID mental health. He has developed ACT-based tools for athletes and validated instruments like the Swedish Multidimensional Psychological Flexibility Inventory. Recent studies include blended digital-in-person therapy and braining-physical exercise as psychiatric adjuncts.
Key collaborations include Kompetenscentrum för psykoterapi and international institutions. Grants from Statens Institutionsstyrelse, ALF-medicin, Vetenskapsrådet, and KRIKA Foundation support his work. He supervises PhD students and contributes to clinical supervision frameworks and implementation science.
