Tobias Fleig is a Lecturer in Dramaturgical Sound Design at the Institute for Music and Media, Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf since 2020. He holds a mechanical engineering degree from RWTH Aachen University and has a lifelong engagement with music and audio engineering.
His career spans over 25 years as a sound designer, re-recording mixer, and audio engineer for over 100 feature films, including award-winning projects like The Counterfeiters (Oscar winner), Lebanon (Golden Lion), Bal (Golden Bear), and Little Joe (Palme d’Or contender). He operates his own recording and mixing studios in Cologne and Berlin, collaborating with MPS Sonnenstudio GmbH since 2014.
Fleig teaches at multiple institutions, including Konrad Wolf Film University and Filmakademie Baden Württemberg. He is affiliated with the Deutsche Filmakademie, Filmton e.V., and the VDT (Association of German Sound Engineers).
His research interests focus on integrating narrative (dramaturgical) elements into sound design for film and media, leveraging technical expertise to enhance storytelling through audio.
