Tobias Ellermeyer

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Tobias Ellermeyer has been a Professor of Microcomputer Technology/Mechatronics at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, South Westphalia University of Applied Sciences (FH Südwestfalen), since October 2011. He specializes in embedded systems, microcontrollers (STM32, ARM Cortex, ESP32), electronics, and digital technology with a focus on hardware-related applications, brownfield systems, data acquisition (e.g., Raspberry Pi), smart sensors, and transmission protocols (MQTT, NB-IoT, LTE-M, Thread, Matter).

His career spans roles as a Project Leader at Keysight Technologies (formerly MICRAM Microelectronic GmbH, 2002-2011), Design Engineering Manager at Multilink GmbH (2002), and Scientific Staff Member at Ruhr-Universität Bochum (1997-2001). He earned his Dipl.-Ing. and Dr.-Ing. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology from Ruhr-Universität Bochum (1997 and 2002, respectively), with a dissertation on monolithically integrated eye-opening analyzers for high-bit-rate fiber optic systems.

Ellermeyer's research centers on high-speed digital/analog conversion systems (≥10 Gb/s), SiGe/CMOS integrated circuits, and automated test equipment (ATE) development. His publications highlight advancements in DACs, OFDM, multicarrier transmission, and Tb/s optical networks.
