She holds a PhD in Modern Philology (Linguistics) and is qualified for associate professorship in the competitive sector 10/G1.
Her research focuses on theoretical and descriptive linguistics, particularly in the areas of:

- Phraseology and complex lexemes in grammars and dictionaries
- Relationship between literature and dialect, including marked syntactic and lexical uses
- Language acquisition, interlanguage, and learning processes
Her recent publications reflect a strong trend in historical and evolutionary morphology, especially concerning the Sicilian language. The works explore diachronic word formation, exogenous influences on the lexicon, and syntactic evolution in literary Italian, indicating a deep engagement with both theoretical and applied linguistics.
She has supervised several thesis students on topics including language acquisition, dubbing, dialect and identity, and neologisms in Italian.
She maintains regular office hours via Microsoft Teams and in person at the former Benedictine Monastery, Studio 136.
