His research bridges economics, public health, and genetics, focusing on socioeconomic disparities in health through human capital theory. He pioneered structural models linking education, wealth, and longevity, and developed methods to correct selection bias in genetic studies (GWAS 2.0). His work spans aging populations, retirement economics, and education policy reforms in Qatar.
Recent publications address health capital theory refinements, volunteer bias correction in genetic research, and education-health linkages. Scientific awards include the Fairchild Postdoctoral Prize Fellowship at Caltech, NIA Independent Scientist Award (K02), and dual cum laude distinctions for his physics and astrophysics degrees.
Galama previously worked as a Senior Consultant at L.E.K. Consulting and received substantial NIA grants (R01: $2.5M, K02: $870K) to investigate health inequality. He is affiliated with the Health Inequality network and contributes to policy analysis in education and health financing.
