Titas De Sarkar is a Research Fellow at the University of Chicago's Division of the Arts & Humanities, affiliated with the Department of South Asian Languages and Civilizations. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago (2024), supervised by Professors Rochona Majumdar and Dipesh Chakrabarty. His research examines postcolonial representations of youth culture in Calcutta through interdisciplinary analysis of artforms, literature, and global youth cultural frameworks.
Education: M.A. (Jadavpur University, 2012), M.Phil. (Jadavpur University, 2014), and Ph.D. studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University's Centre for Historical Studies (2015–2017). Teaching roles include Writing Instructor for courses like Media Aesthetics and Language and the Human. He co-organized the Sixteenth South Asian Graduate Student Conference in 2019.
Research focuses on cultural studies, postcolonial theory, and the politics of representation, emphasizing youth narratives in transnational contexts.
