Tingan Zhou is a Doctoral Researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Ecology in the Department of Natural Product Biosynthesis, affiliated with the International Max Planck Research School (IMPRS). He is supervised by Prof. Dr. Sarah E. O'Connor and Prof. Dr. Pierre Stallforth (HKI).

His research focuses on elucidating the biosynthetic pathway of Cinchona alkaloids, building on prior work in fungal natural product biosynthesis and metabolic engineering of Yarrowia lypolytica for crocetin and zeaxanthin production. He has contributed to studies on microbial biosynthesis and plant-microbe interactions through his academic training.
