Ting Zou is an Associate Professor at the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering, part of the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at Memorial University of Newfoundland. She holds a BEng in Electrical Engineering from Xi’an Jiaotong University (2005), an MEng in Automation from the same institution (2008), and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from McGill University (2013), where her doctoral work focused on MEMS-based bi-axial accelerometer design. After a postdoctoral fellowship at McGill’s Centre for Intelligent Machines, she joined Memorial University in 2018.
Research Interests:
Her work spans mechatronics, robotics, bio-inspired robotics, nonlinear control, and applied machine learning for robotic systems. Current priorities include robot mechanism design, oceanic robotics, advanced human-machine interaction, and intelligent manufacturing. She leads the Robotics and Ocean Engineering Collaborative Laboratory (ROMECOLAB), integrating interdisciplinary approaches to address industrial automation challenges.

Specializes in robotic systems control, MEMS technologies, and smart manufacturing solutions. Her research aligns with emerging trends in AI-driven robotics and sustainable industrial applications.

Serves as a faculty member contributing to undergraduate and graduate education, advising students on mechanical and mechatronics engineering topics. Engaged in collaborative projects with industry partners to advance robotic technologies.
