Dr. Ting Luo is a Senior Lecturer in Political Communication at Manchester Metropolitan University with expertise in authoritarian regimes and digital governance. She holds a PhD in Government from the London School of Economics (2014), an MSc in Public Policy and Administration from LSE (2007), a BA in Politics from Nankai University (2006), and a PGCert in Higher Education from LSE (2012).
Her research examines:
- Comparative analysis of digital governance structures
- Political communication in authoritarian contexts
- Social media's role in state-society relations
- Methodological innovation in political research
Dr. Luo has secured significant funding including BA/Leverhulme grants (£9,886) and UKRI/NIHR collaborations (£334,000). Her publications consistently explore the intersection of technology, governance, and society in China, with recent work focusing on pandemic responses and digital nationalism. She teaches undergraduate courses in political methodology and advanced quantitative techniques, plus postgraduate modules on digital media politics.
