Tina Walther is a Research Associate at the Medical Anthropology and Global Health Unit within the Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology at Freie Universität Berlin. Her work bridges transnational health practices, research ethics, and critical development studies, with fieldwork conducted across East Africa (Tanzania, Uganda) and India.
Her research explores:
- Medical mobilities of practitioners and patients
- Decolonial approaches to global health
- Ethnographies of care and pharmaceutical interventions
- Participatory methods in anthropological research
- Pandemic border regimes and infection prevention
Recent publications examine HIV prevention economies, endometriosis activism, and the intersection of migration and health systems. She has received multiple scholarships including Deutschlandstipendium and Niedersachsenstipendium, and her fieldwork includes stays in Tanzania, India, and Sub-Saharan Africa.
