Tina Moroose

Tina Moroose is a Teaching Assistant Professor and Graduate Studies Coordinator at West Virginia University (WVU), affiliated with the Lane Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. Her work bridges forensic science, DNA analysis, and quality management, with a focus on supporting crime laboratories and advancing forensic methodologies.

• Education: B.A. in Biology from WVU (2000), M.S. in Forensic Science from Marshall University.

Her research addresses practical challenges in forensic DNA analysis, including inhibited sample extraction, blood detection, and STR peak detection in degraded samples. She collaborates with the WVU College of Law on cold case studies and with the Lane Department on Rapid DNA technology.

Scientific awards highlight her contributions to mitochondrial DNA validation, epithelial cell detection in human scent, and forensic DNA audit methodologies. She has extensive consulting experience with organizations like the National Forensic Science Technology Center and the Department of Defense Biometric Task Force.

Moroose is a member of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences and the Sexual Assault Forensic Examination Commission. She has received training in ISO 17025 standards, FBI-led quality assurance, and DNA forensics over 18 years.
