Tina Jeoh is a Professor and Graduate Program Chair in the Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering at the University of California, Davis. Her research focuses on bioconversion of cellulosic biomass into biofuels and bioproducts, as well as microencapsulation technologies for controlled delivery of bioactives. She leads the Jeoh Lab, which develops scalable methods for industrial applications such as alginate-based microencapsulation and enzymatic hydrolysis optimization.
- Key Positions:
- Professor, UC Davis (since at least 2010)
- Graduate Program Chair
- Undergraduate Faculty Advisor
- Awards:
- Danisco Foundation Scientific Excellence Medal (2022)
- Zuhair A. Munir Award (2020 via student Jennifer Nill)
Research interests include:
- Cellulosic biomass valorization
- Enzymatic hydrolysis mechanisms
- Alginate microencapsulation (CLAM technology)
- Sustainable bioproduct development
Recent projects include leveraging lytic polysaccharide monooxygenases (LPMOs) to enhance cellulose conversion efficiency and developing yeast-based systems for converting agricultural wastes into high-value products like animal feed.
