Tina Huey is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of English at the University of Connecticut. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania’s Annenberg School for Communication and a B.A. in Comparative Literature from Smith College. Additionally, she earned a Mid-level Parenting Certificate from the School of Life.
Her teaching focuses on First-Year Writing programs (ENGL 1003, 1010, and 1011), along with courses in Mass Communication, Freedom of Expression, and Nonverbal Communication. She emphasizes student growth in public discourse, rhetorical analysis, and interdisciplinary approaches to language and signification.
Huey’s research interests include cultural ethnography, content analysis, and the intersection of art, language, and societal norms. She has explored topics such as obscenity warnings in museums and the symbolic use of food and science in economic systems. Beyond academia, she actively participates in community theater as a writer, director, and actor, and freelances as a writer and editor.
Her office is located in Austin 102A at the Storrs campus, with Spring 2025 office hours on Thursdays from 3:30–5:30 PM in ROWE 316 or via online appointment.
