Timothy Pasch

Timothy Pasch is Professor of Communication at the University of North Dakota and Director of the UND ARCTEK Research Lab, co-directing the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute. His Arctic-focused research spans communications infrastructure, remote sensing, and predictive analytics.

Education includes Ph.D. from University of Washington (2008) and Management Development Program certificate from Harvard Graduate School of Education (2017). Leads DoD-funded Defense Resiliency Platform initiative ($4M UND portion) and NSF Arctic research on digital entrepreneurship.

Research integrates geoscience and social science through: Arctic communication networks (32% of publications), machine learning applications (28%), remote sensing (20%), and community resilience (20%). Recent publications emphasize permafrost modeling and infrastructure mapping using AI.

Extensive fieldwork experience across Nunavut, Alaska, and Scandinavia. Certified FAA Remote Pilot conducting aerial surveys.
