Timothy Lannin is an Associate Teaching Professor and Associate Chair for Undergraduate Studies in Bioengineering at Northeastern University. He joined in 2017 after teaching at Lafayette College and completing his PhD in Mechanical Engineering at Cornell University under Dr. Brian Kirby, supported by an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship. His research focuses on biomedical applications, including cancer cell analysis, electrical properties of cells, and biofuel optimization. He is a recipient of the MathWorks Fellow award.

Research Interests: Dr. Lannin’s work spans biomedical devices, bioimaging, and cancer diagnostics. He develops tools for automated cancer cell identification, electrorotation-based cell analysis, and microfluidic systems for rare cell capture. His studies include characterizing cancer cells’ electrical properties to improve separation techniques and exploring algae cells for biofuel optimization.
Publications: His recent works address CTC profiling, taxane resistance in prostate cancer, and biomedical device design. Themes include clinical trial methodologies, machine learning applications in diagnostics, and surgical tool efficiency.
