Timothy L. Kline

Timothy L. Kline, Ph.D., M.S., is an Assistant Professor of Radiology and Senior Associate Consultant in the Division of Radiology Informatics at Mayo Clinic. His research focuses on advancing artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and deep learning methodologies in medical imaging, particularly for polycystic kidney disease (PKD) and imaging genomics. He leads the Imaging and Analysis Core at the Mayo Clinic Pirnie Translational PKD Center, developing image-based biomarkers and automated segmentation tools to improve diagnostic accuracy and personalized healthcare.

Dr. Kline’s education includes a Ph.D. in Biomedical Informatics from the University of Minnesota and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering. His work emphasizes integrating clinical and radiological data to predict conditions like post-transplant diabetes mellitus and optimizing AI-driven interventions for cystic diseases. He has received awards such as the NIH Loan Repayment Program Award (2016) and the European Society of Urogenital Radiology Best Poster (2019).
