Timothy Hogan

Timothy Hogan is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Division of Health Informatics and Implementation Science within the Department of Population and Quantitative Health Sciences at UMass Chan Medical School. He simultaneously serves as Implementation Research Coordinator for VA's National eHealth Quality Enhancement Research Initiative and Research Health Scientist at VA's Center for Health Quality, Outcomes and Economic Research.

Education: Dr. Hogan earned a BS in Information Science from University of Pittsburgh, followed by MS and PhD degrees in Library & Information Science from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Research Focus: His expertise centers on consumer health informatics, personal health information management, and implementation science. His research examines how individuals with complex chronic conditions access and use health information, with emphasis on developing digital health interventions to support self-management. He employs mixed-methods approaches to understand perspectives of patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers.

Professional Background: Before joining UMass, he completed a VA Postdoctoral Fellowship in Health Services Research and served as Research Health Scientist at spinal cord injury research centers.
