Dr. Timothy Darr serves as the Lawrence Peitz Chair of Business and Assistant Professor of Computer Information Science at Oklahoma Baptist University's School of Business. With over twenty years of industry experience in computer science and information systems, he focuses on preparing students for careers through practical skill development and ethical integration of Christian faith with technology.
His educational background includes a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering (1997), M.S.E. (1992), and B.S.E. in Computer Engineering Summa Cum Laude (1988), all from the University of Michigan.
Dr. Darr's research centers on artificial intelligence, particularly knowledge representation, human decision modeling, and intelligent agents. He examines the intersection of Christian faith and AI through topics like human identity, intelligence definitions, and artificial general intelligence (AGI) ethics. His work bridges theoretical concepts with real-world applications in government and commercial sectors.
His publications demonstrate expertise in quantum probability decision models, civil information management, and military game theory, reflecting consistent contributions to command and control systems and adversarial modeling since 2000.
As an active practitioner, he has led agile development teams for the Navy, Air Force, Army, and intelligence community, delivering enterprise-scale knowledge base solutions for Fortune 500 companies in telecommunications and computing.
Dr. Darr teaches foundational and advanced courses including Python programming, Java-based computer science, data science, software engineering, and logic design. He also leads Honors Business Colloquia exploring Christian perspectives on artificial intelligence.
