Dr. Timothy Cope is a Professor at Georgia Institute of Technology's School of Biological Sciences within the College of Sciences. His research focuses on sensorimotor integration in the mammalian spinal cord, particularly examining neural signaling in motoneurons and somatosensory neurons after peripheral nerve injuries. He also directs the PhD Program in Neuroscience and Neurotechnology.
Research Interests:
- Spinal cord neural circuits and movement control
- Peripheral nerve injury regeneration
- Chemotherapy-induced sensory neuropathy
- Mechanosensory encoding mechanisms
- Synaptic plasticity in motor disorders
Education:
- PhD - Duke University
- BS and MS - UCLA
Key Research Trends: Recent publications emphasize computational modeling of muscle spindle encoding, cancer-chemotherapy interaction effects on sensory neurons, and microglia-mediated synaptic plasticity following peripheral injuries. His work bridges neurophysiology, biomechanics, and clinical oncology to address movement disorders.
