Timothy C. Cahill is the Vernon Gregson Jr. II Distinguished Professor and Associate Professor of Religious Studies at Loyola University New Orleans. His expertise lies in South Asian religious traditions, with a focus on Sanskrit, Hindu theology, and Indology. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1995 for research on Jagannatha Paṇḍitarāja, a 17th-century devotional poet.

Dr. Cahill's research centers on Sanskrit literature, Hindu devotional traditions, and manuscript studies. He has secured funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities for fieldwork in India (2022) focused on Jagannātha's manuscripts, including the Bhāminīvilāsa. His publications include critical editions, translations, and annotated bibliographies of classical Indian texts.
Dr. Cahill has taught courses such as Hindu Theology, Buddhism, and surveys of Asian religions. He lived in India during his student years at Andhra University and has taught at the University of Iowa, Lehigh University, and the University of Pennsylvania prior to joining Loyola.
