Rev. Timothy Brown, S.J., serves as Associate Professor of Law at Loyola College in Maryland's Sellinger School of Business and Management and holds the role of Special Assistant to the President for Mission Integration. A Jesuit priest, he previously served as Provincial of the Maryland Province of the Society of Jesus, integrating spiritual mission with academic leadership.
His academic foundation includes:
- JD from George Mason University (1982)
- M.Div. from Weston School of Theology (1986)
- MA from Fordham University (1978)
- BS from Georgetown University (1974)
Brown's scholarship uniquely converges business ethics, theology, and legal studies. He examines corporate social responsibility through religious frameworks, analyzes gaming industry regulations, and explores spiritual dimensions of modern challenges like digital distraction and grief. His work consistently bridges Jesuit values with practical business applications, emphasizing ethical governance and compassionate leadership.
Publication trends reveal an evolving focus from legal-business intersections (2009-2010 gaming law/CSR studies) toward theological reflections on human experience (2012-2019 Psalms-based works on forgiveness, distraction, and grief). This trajectory highlights his commitment to addressing contemporary societal issues through both academic rigor and spiritual wisdom.
His distinguished recognition includes:
- Loyola College Distinguished Teacher of the Year (1992)
- Honorary Membership in Beta Gamma Sigma (1993)
- Sellinger School Overall Outstanding Faculty Award (1995)
Brown secured two Shriver Center Higher Education Consortium Grants: one funding a 1996 Seminar for Interns on Social Concerns in Management, and another supporting a 1997 Peer Mediation Program at St. Frances Academy. He also contributed to institutional governance as a 1993 Presidential Search Committee member.
As Co-Director of Loyola's Center for Values and Service, he cultivated programs linking academic learning with community engagement and ethical leadership development.
