Timothy Andeen is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Texas at Austin, part of the College of Natural Sciences. His research focuses on experimental searches for new particles and interactions beyond the Standard Model, particularly through the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). He also leads efforts in developing advanced electronics for the ATLAS Liquid Argon calorimeter to improve detection of high-energy electrons and photons.
His research interests span particle physics, high-energy detector technology, and the study of electroweak symmetry breaking. He is a core member of the UT ATLAS group, contributing to both theoretical and experimental aspects of collider physics. His work includes analyzing data from the LHC to uncover evidence of BSM physics, such as charged Higgs bosons, long-lived particles, and exotic signatures. He has taught undergraduate courses in mechanics (PHY 303K) and advanced physics laboratories (PHY 474).
Recent research highlights include studies of top quark dynamics, Higgs boson properties, and searches for heavy particles using ATLAS data. His detector development projects aim to enhance the ATLAS detector’s performance for the High-Luminosity LHC era.
Timothy Andeen’s contributions to the ATLAS collaboration reflect his dedication to advancing our understanding of fundamental particles and their interactions through cutting-edge experiments and instrumentation.
