Timofey Agarin

Dr. Timofey Agarin is a Senior Lecturer in Politics and Director of the Centre for the Study of Ethnic Conflict at Queen's University Belfast's School of History, Anthropology, Philosophy and Politics. He holds a PhD from the University of Aberdeen and an MA from Phillips University Marburg. His research focuses on ethnic politics, state-society relations, minority protection, and European integration in post-communist states. He leads ESRC-funded projects on power-sharing systems and non-dominant minorities, and a Global Challenge Research Fund project on civil society in post-conflict societies. Agarin is Chair of the IPSA's Research Committee on Politics and Ethnicity and convenes the UK Baltic Study Group. His work explores institutional legacies of communism, minority rights implementation, and the impact of EU policies on societal dynamics.
