Timo Kivimaki is Professor of International Relations at the University of Bath and Senior Non-Resident Fellow at the Sejong Institute in Seoul. He has previously held professorships at the University of Helsinki, University of Lapland, and University of Copenhagen, with administrative roles as Acting Director of Nordic Institute of Asian Studies and Helsinki's Institute of Development Studies.
As a conflict expert, he consults for governments (Finland, Denmark, Russia, etc.) and international organizations (UN, EU) on conflict resolution and terrorism. Notably, he advised Nobel laureate Martti Ahtisaari during Aceh/Papua peace processes, receiving public recognition for his critical contributions.
