معرفی
Prof Timo Gans is a Full Professor and Head of the School of Physical Sciences at Dublin City University (DCU), serving concurrently as Associate Dean for Research in the Faculty of Science & Health. He also holds a position at the National Centre for Plasma Science & Technology. Prior roles include Full Professor at the University of York (UK), Queen’s University Belfast (UK), and Ruhr-University Bochum (Germany). He earned his PhD in Physics from the University of Essen (Germany) in 2001.
His research focuses on controlling plasma dynamics and chemical kinetics for innovative plasma technologies. Key interests include plasma diagnostics (particularly laser-based techniques), multi-scale computational modeling, low-temperature plasmas, plasma chemistry, and green chemistry solutions using plasmas. His work emphasizes applications in atmospheric pressure plasmas, plasma processing, and plasma monitoring.
Prof Gans has received prestigious awards, including the IoP Hershkowitz Award, IUPAP Young Scientist Award, and Hans-Werner-Osthoff Award. He chairs the British Vacuum Council (2021–2024) and serves as Councillor for the International Union of Vacuum Science and Technology (IUVSTA), representing the UK and Ireland since 2016.
His recent publications explore plasma-material interactions, reactive species production, and energy-efficient CO₂ conversion. He leads collaborative efforts to standardize plasma research and advance plasma-based technologies for biomedical and environmental applications.
